So let me set the stage here!

The United States Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labour and Pensions held a 10:00 am hearing this January 14, 2026. Its intended focus, as stated, was Protecting Women: Exposing the Dangers of Chemical Abortion Drugs.”

The earlier Dobbs decision [Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization] of June 24, 2022 had overturned Roe v. Wade (1973) and Planned Parenthood v. Casey (1992), eliminating the constitutional right to abortion, returning legislative decisions about abortion to individual states and their elected representatives. Consequently, chemical abortions (hereafter CA) and the availability of mifepristone and misoprostol have allowed pregnant woman to be able to self-manage their abortion at home. 1 With a well document treatment failure rate of around 6% and thousands having to be treated in hospitals after taking the pill, the Senate Committee hearing was intended to consider the safety of ‘Abortifacients.’2

Among the invited guests to the Senate hearing that morning was Dr. Nisha Verma, MD, MPH, FACOG. Here is Dr. Verma’s bio:

Dr. Verma “was born in Greensboro, NC to Indian immigrant parents. She received her Bachelor’s in Biology and Anthropology and her medical degree from the University of North Carolina. She graduated from OB/GYN residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and completed her Complex Family Planning Fellowship and Master’s in Public Health degree at Emory University. She is a board-certified OB/GYN now practicing comprehensive reproductive healthcare in Georgia. She is also a fellow with Physicians for Reproductive Health” [a pro-abortion organization].

As a witness called by the Democrats, Dr. Verma appears an immanently qualified physician, one whose varied duties include providing abortion care at Planned Parenthoods in Delaware. Yes, Verma is an abortionist ... and a dishonest one at that!

What makes this Senate hearing of particular interest is that in the morning ’s proceedings, U.S. Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri asked Dr. Verma, this OB-GYN based in Atlanta, “Can men get pregnant?” A simple question for an OB-GYN; a simple “Yes” or “No” would do. I mean, with her extensive medical training, and the god-like way we generally esteem physicians, there is just no way that she could possibly fail such a basic biology question. But the doctor did! In a video gone viral, ‘the doctor’ danced around the question, bobbing and weaving like a ballerina on steroids ... like a weasel caught in a snare ... like a wild kangaroo loose in a kindergarten class with the doors locked. Admittedly, it was hilarious to watch! Admittedly, it was also pathetic to watch, as you can witness for yourself here. https://www.c-span.org/clip/senate-committee/can-men-get-pregnant/5188872

As a board-certified obstetrician, now celebrity, Dr. Nisha Verma’s inability to answer the question “Can Men Get Pregnant,” demonstrates massive intellectual dishonesty on her part.

 It seems to me ...

  • This is a medical professional and professor suffering from truth-confusion.

  • This is a doctor who is apparently under the spell of some dark cultural drug that has messed up her capacity for rational thought.

  • This is a doctor who is a poster-child for what a degree at a liberal college can potentially turn you into.

  • This is a doctor with a Masters and Medical degree, who either did not pay attention in her human biology class ... or who is so ideologically driven that she is willing to jettison her reputation (and insult our intelligence) to defend her higher calling – defending LGBTQ+++ clients, along with other ‘Cultural pirates’ ... while profiting from it.

“Can Men Get Pregnant?” Pretty simple. Hawley asked 11 times, just to help the good doctor along.  I mean, it is not as if the question was in Swahili ("Je, Wanaume Wanaweza Kupata Mimba?") ... or Pig Latin ("Ancay Enmay Etgay Egrantpray”). No! The question was as simple as ... “Can a Turkey Yodel? Can Pigs Fly? Or ... is it true that Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is a great Fraud Fighter?” The answers are obvious. So – “NO, Men Cannot Get Pregnant. It is Mommy’s who have babies ... not Daddy’s.” BTW – after listening to Dr. Verma, this is why (a) a “Second Opinion” is a wise life-choice, and (b) a credible reason to not seek the ‘expertise’ of a doctor who works with Planned Parenthood.

Now, this question, in search of an honest answer, was never intended to be front and center at the Senate hearing. The safety of abortifacients was the intended focus. The prevailing background to the hearing was the question of whether the government might have rushed the availability of the abortion pill. Yet, in less than a 5-minute exchange between Hawley and Verma – we are witnesses to the collision between two worlds ... and two world views: one Christian, one secular.

If ‘feelings’ can determine gender, then why not height,

age, and skin colour? This is how absurd the argument

espoused by LGBTQ/transgender ideology is.

Creation Order

The God of the Bible is a God of order. In fact, “In the beginning,” ex nihilo (Latin: “out of nothing;” Gen. 1:1), he creates the universe - bringing space, time, matter, and energy into being (Hebrews 11:3; Psalm 33:6-9). This is the first step in his process of ‘forming’ and then ‘filling.’  Order emerges from chaos through distinct, sequential steps, highlighting divine purpose, natural hierarchy, and humanity’s structured process. While almost everything in the physical universe is changing – the laws of nature do not. I mean, if the universe is a mindless, random, purposeless accident, then why would / should it display any order at all – or more specifically, why would it obey laws? Should we expect that the laws of physics will be different tomorrow? Jump from the top of a 10-story building and let me know how reality works for you.

Here is where laws make sense in a Christian worldview. This is where biological reality comes in. There are not two views of this reality ... or three, four, even five – where we get to choose. No! A Christian worldview has a rational reason to believe the laws of nature do not change. In a secular worldview, this kind of an assumption is completely arbitrary — and therefore irrational — because as in science and technology, for example, an assumption of uniformity is a requirement.

We cannot treat human experiences as ‘normative.’ Indeed, we should have a natural distrust of our self-perceptions because they have been corrupted by sin. Human autonomy is a secular worldview lens,

not a Christian worldview one. We don’t get

to define our identity; God does!

God has willed that there be two genders – that humans would be either male or female. We are not our own creators and who and what we are, as revealed in the creation account is the truth. We are made in God’s image (dignity), created male and female (gender) and we are constituted material and spiritual (nature). And following this pinnacle of creation, we are told “it was very good” (Gen. 1:31). With nothing greater needing to come into the world, “God rested” (Gen. 2:2). Likewise, the Decalogue (Ten Commandments), a fairly specific summary of God’s moral law, provides us with consistent evidence relevant to transgenderism.

  • “No other gods before me.” Human autonomy is a form of idolatry; human sexuality is not a greater authority then God’s Word (# 1);

  • Honour your father and mother,” presumes parental oversight of their children (# 5); children do not set the agenda;

  • “You shall not commit adultery,” establishes the basis binary sexual differentiation already established in Genesis 1 and 2 – one man / one woman’ no fluidity here (# 7).

  • “You shall not bear false witness.” By implication then, if biological sex is the primary indicator of ontological sex, then surgery for sex reassignment is presenting as something you are not. To this we should add that the use of preferred pronouns ... the nature of truth and the Scripture’s definition of gender as also problematic (# 9).

Doctors, parents ... even children, do not assign sex or gender. God has done this genetically and biologically in his act of creation and with limited exceptions (rare genetic abnormalities; intersex) our DNA boldly proclaims this reality. This is the Christian worldview — boy / girl, man / woman. If you cannot get that right, then you are not going to get anything else right.

The impression seems to be that moms are popping out

non-binary offspring faster than Ontario school boards

put teachers through trans-appropriate training.

 Old Heresy in Contemporary Garb?

Current post-modern realities promote an alternative metaphysics – which is at the heart of the transgender movement. After all, if they can make the ontological argument that people are the gender they wish to be and make it about who someone is, then their ‘hope’ is that their silly, incoherent worldview arguments will resonate in our brain, like it ravenously consumes theirs. 3

This confusion about gender identity is in a variety of ways a contemporary, contaminated version of Christianity ... an old Christian heresy – just minus the ‘Christian’ — Gnostic Dualism! I am not suggesting that (a) trans folks are heretical sinners, since fundamentally, all of us are sinners. We have all been fatally wounded by original sin — and the only way out of this swamp is through embracing the finished work of Christ on the cross (John 3:16), and further (b) I do understand that Gnosticism was indeed a specific, peculiar heresy that flourished in the 2nd and 3rd centuries, concerning a particular understanding of who Jesus was/is and the Resurrection ...so  I am not suggesting that ‘boy-is-girl,’ ‘girl-is-boy’ believers are kooky gnostic heretics either. OK – now with that out of the way ...

Gnosticism is a kind-of umbrella term used by modern scholars to identify different groups, with shared characteristics, yet within the very broad theatre of Christianity itself. While no one group possessed all of the attributed features, some common themes stand out: an emphasis on personal spiritual knowledge (gnosis) ... and that an imperfect creator god (demiurge) made the material world, and this material existence is evil. I propose that these two features, whether by design or not, are reflected in transgender ideology and help shape its secular world view, including its opposition to physical reality. Consider:

All the progressive left is doing is creating fake,

make-believe pinatas, and no common-sense

person is going to swing at it.

 # 1. Personal Secret knowledge. At the heart of gnostic thinking is the view that the true self (mind/spirit) is trapped within a corrupt material body and their secret insight / knowledge (gnosis) is the realization of this inner truth. Transness implies a similar dualism, wherein a “divine spark” (their true self) is trapped within a corrupt material body; a ‘wrong’ body. It focuses on ‘personal reality’ – a reality unable to be measured, observed, or otherwise scientifically scrutinized objectively. In essence it passes as secret knowledge ... for ‘they’ know something, the ‘rest of us’ do not know ... and cannot know. ‘Feeling’ a disconnect between their body and their internal identity, their ‘personal reality’ is the authentic “you” – distinct from an illusory physical self.

Response: To say that you are what you perceive ... even conceive yourself to be – is fundamentally irrational. ‘Feeling trapped in the wrong body,’ is just silly, Houdini-style thinking and a mental health issue to boot. I mean, how does a nine-year old know what a mere inner sense of gender “feels” like – apart from having a body of a particular sex; or an adult for that matter? Exactly how do you know you “feel like” a different sex than the one you are in? With society being told there are at least 72 different genders, how does someone know what it ‘feels’ like to be a male ... female ... or one of those other ‘70’? The general answer seems to be, “Well, I just do.” They have no respect for the scientific facts. Sorry, but that is not good enough!

An Open Letter to Dr Verma: “Dear Doctor. To the question, ‘Can Men Get Pregnant?’ — a human baby is never going to pass through a male pelvis. Likewise, a man is never going to develop eggs and a woman is never going to develop sperm. Happy to help!”

                                                                                                                   Dr. Scott

# 2 An imperfect material world that is evil. In gnostic thought, a Demiurge – a lesser deity (often called Yaldabaoth) is the creator of the material world and frequently identified with the Old Testament God. 4 Since materiality is viewed negatively, treated with contempt – the universe is inferior. Not surprisingly then, the material human body is perceived as inherently evil or flawed as well and constrictive — a prison to everyone who inhabits one. For a gnostic, spiritual salvation requires escaping the evil material world to return to the Supreme God (called Monad).

This inherent difference between spirit and flesh, mind and matter is argued in transness as well, along the lines of “My mental gender is out of sync with my physical sex. This is not the ‘real’ me.”  Here the human body is presented as an antagonist (viewed negatively; evil), to be manipulated by the authentic, immaterial ‘feeling’ self. Since the body therefore does not have particular value – gender affirming surgeries like radial forearm free flap (RFFF), which involves taking the skin, fat, nerves, arteries and veins from your wrist to about halfway up your forearm to create a penis ... or what medical doctors euphemistically call ‘Top Surgery,” removing or augmenting breast tissue to create a more masculine chest — are among the many options that await those in search of their ‘authentic self.’

Response: A Christian worldview knows that our mind and body can be at war with each other, but it is not a battle over gender, but over our internal sin and living in a world that is not compatible to our Christian identity (Romans 7:22-23). Further, a normative Christian worldview leads Christians to agree that God himself is the ultimate norm – the final standard of what is good. So, when we read that God created the world and mankind in 6 days ... pronounced “that everything he had made ...very good” (Gen. 1:31), then our material bodies cannot be inherently evil, since it is God who defines his creation – not us. God did not stutter.

If we accept transgender ‘reality,’ then why not trans-racial and trans-species? After all, they are built on the same false science as transness. There is no ‘spectrum’ of human genders ... and true sex reassignment is biologically impossible!

“Can Men Get Pregnant?” Senator Hawley asked Dr. Verma 11 times. I would offer that the ‘doc’ knows full well that social constructionism (where culture shapes identity) does not work over gender essentialism (innate, biologically fixed characteristics), but she did not want to be on the public record as having answered “No.” Verma seems quite aware that to do so could place her in possible financial jeopardy, turn her from a darling to a pariah among the LGBTQ+++ folks, compel her to jettison this notion of human autonomy, and push her to confront the moral law written in her heart, placed there by God. So, her best answer was to dance and twirl better than a Sufi Dervish!

Dr. Verma could be forgiven for having an addled mind at the Senate hearing, if she were the town fool. But she is not a fool – just another opportunistic cultural warrior, exploiting compassion without boundaries. Perhaps its less cognitively demanding.

Now you might think that Dr. Verma takes her hard position at great professional cost, right? Not so! The medical profession in general and the American Institute of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) in particular, has joined this war on biology — a worldview that fundamentally leads to the unravelling of Creation Order. No doubt the ‘good doctor’ has the support of Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, who like Verma, famously testified before a Senate Judiciary Committee (March 23, 2022) that she could not define a woman because “I am not a biologist.” Too funny! Too stupid an answer! BTW - Jackson has two children, Talia and Leila.  Wonder if she knows yet that they are girls?

Even as I write here, the Supreme Court of the United States is hearing oral arguments on behalf of two transgender athletes – one from Idaho (24 yr old) one from West Virginia (15 yr old) – who were banned playing on sports teams consistent with their chosen gender identity. 5 The legal arguments made by the attorneys were thinner than the 1-ply toilet paper my frugal mother kept in the pantry.

  • “It has been amply proven that participating in team sports equips youth with a myriad of skills – in leadership, teamwork, confidence, health ...” Great! Go play on the boy’s team; same equipping.

  • “... denying a student the ability to participate is not only discriminatory, but harmful to a student’s self-esteem, sending a message that they are not good enough.” A failing grade in Math and Geography can do the same thing – but teachers still do it.

  • “I play for my school ... –to make friends, have fun, and challenge myself through practice and teamwork.” What – no friends, fun or challenge on male teams?

  • “She wants and deserves the same opportunities as any other girl in her school.” Yes, but the 1st problem with your defence is “she” ... “girl” ... and “her.”

Just because something is scientifically possible should

not mean that it is ethically permissible.

Without a doubt however, the best moment to date was an exchange between Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito and attorney Kathleen Hartnett, representing a trans person, when Alito asked a simple question:

Justice Alito: “And what is that definition? For equal protection purposes, what does it mean to be a boy or a girl or a man or a woman?”

Kathleen Hartnett: We do not have a definition for the court.”

A question rooted in biology, but the attorney cannot come up with a definition. AND ... remember, this is a court of law. I can hear Detective Joe Friday (TV series, Dragnet), Just the facts, ma'am." Harnett’s argument sounds like the intro to the popular 1959 TV series, “The Twilight Zone”.

“You're traveling through another dimension -- a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That's a signpost up ahead: your next stop: the Twilight Zone!”

The Twilight Zone, 1959 TV Series.

“Ah, c’mon Judge Alito ... Imagine with me.” The sound you hear is the deflation of the trans tire.

When a teenager is struggling with anorexia, the solution is to work on changing the mind to align it to match the body – not “Well, if that is how you feel, then let’s schedule surgery.” Changing the body to match a changing mind is abuse.

Finally, Colin Wright, who describes himself as an evolutionary biologist and Fellow at the Manhattan Institute, writes in The Wall Street Journal, “The Transgender Sports Deception” (January 15, 2026) that mainstream media is framing the Supreme Court’s oral arguments in a misleading, obscurant way. He says:

Preventing males from competing in female sports isn’t the same as ‘banning transgender athletes from sports.’ Transgender athletes aren’t excluded from athletics; they are simply limited to competing with others of their own sex – like everyone else.”

“YES,” even this evolutionary biologist has it figured out!

We know that dysphoria is real, so any conversation with someone struggling in their body should be laced with compassion ... and truth. I have said this numerous times in articles past, so I won’t repeat myself. Still, at some point in our life, all Christians have not —felt right either ... but it was our ability to distinguish between reality that helped move us towards Christ ... and come too Christ.

Jesus actively challenged and debated ‘wrong thinking,’ reminding us that the collision of worldviews can get messy. Still, a Christian worldview will necessarily be critical of the ideology that underlies the transness militancy and nonsense the public is routinely exposed to. Evil presents itself in the act of absurdity ... and you do not have to be on the Left or the Right to know what is true. Enough with this 1984 Orwellian Word-Speak.

Lately it appears the arc of progressivist direction is hitting a series of speedbumps. If we can recover ‘common-sense’ even on the “T” in LGBTQ ... then perhaps in time we can recover from the insanity of the “L” ... “G” ... and “B” as well. For the Christian, consistency in an understanding of biblical revelation, the law of God, and his purpose in creating male and female ... and our holding the line, will hopefully contribute to society’s, long-term, comprehensive, “common sense” recovery ... and not only on gender ideology, I might add. It will be interesting to see if the U.S. Supreme Court thinks the same way.
