Carney and His Palestinian State

Warning: Political Commentary

Following a report by his friends British PM Keir Sturmer and French president Emanuelle Macron, Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney announced on July 30, 225, his intention is to also recognize a Palestinian state at the UN this September.

“Canada intends to recognize the State of Palestine at the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in September 2025” says the Prime Ministers Office. The public document goes on to say “This intention is predicated on the Palestinian Authority’s commitment to much needed reforms, including the commitments by Palestinian Authority President Abbas to fundamentally reform its governance, to hold general elections in 2026 in which Hamas can play no part, and to demilitarize the Palestinian state.” 1

Wow! “Predicated,” says Carney! So, the PM, without any prior evidence ... without a season, a month or a week of any reported factual proof, confirmation or testimony to the PA’s absolute commitment to this ‘predicated’ intention — shows his largess to Palestinians ... and his simplistic, naive and disregard for Israeli security.

  • Why did Carney not mention Palestinian statehood in his election platform?

  • Why does Carney not seek a consensus vote in Parliament, instead of his undemocratic move towards all Canadians?

  • Why is Carney’s decision here a Liberal party of Canada decision that panders to diaspora blocks that have long been embedded in LPC policy?

  • Have the PMs handlers not informed him that this unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state without Israel’s participation undermines existing Oslo agreements? Could it be that Europe’s hard-headed decision to move forward with Palestinian state recognition has led to Israel’s recent decision to move forward with construction in the E1 settlement and effectively bury the idea of a Palestinian state? Not the reaction the EU was hoping for, I am sure.

  • AND, with Canada’s Jewish population at 0.91% and the Muslim population at 4.9% (or 1,8 million in 2021), can it be that Carneys decision to betray Israel is based on political expediency, not sound reasoning. The National Post seems to think so.

The UN does not consider Hamas a terrorist organization.

“Predicated,” says our Canadian Prime Minister. OK – so let’s go to the Cambridge Dictionary for some clarity here on this word.

As a verb (predicate):

The word "predicate" means to declare, affirm, or state something. To base something on a particular premise [not promise] or condition; it depends on the existence or truth of this thing.”

When something is predicated on something else, it means that it relies on that other thing to be true or exist. So, precisely what is currently ‘true’ or ‘exists’ that would move Canada to formally recognize Palestinian statehood? Well – the Government of Canada says that it is relying on a “commitment to much needed reforms.” My mom would have called that “a lick and a promise” nothing. “Predicated!” Carney is saying — “You guys [Palestinians] promised me you would change your behaviour” (cf. Jeremiah 13:23) ... “so Canada is going to reward you – even though there is absolutely no evidence to date that you have acted on your promise. I have my fingers crossed though.”

What happened to moral clarity Canada? Our PM is engaging in hollow statements – legitimizing terrorism by vindicating Hamas’ strategy that jihad, violence and manipulative propaganda narratives bring positive results ... while factually creating barriers towards any chance of regional progress. The only folks really celebrating over Canada’s announcement are the CBC and the Globe and Mail. No surprises there, seems to me.

Recognizing a Palestinian State as this juncture is an act of historical blindness, willful ignorance — or even both!

A survey published in May (6th), 2025, by the Palestinian Centre for Policy and Survey Research (PSR), is most insightful. 2 You should read it for yourself – because it cuts through the white noise and much of what legacy media and government would have us believe. Hey, the report was prepared by the ‘Palestinian Centre,’ not some Jewish cabal. Addressing the degree of Palestinian support in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, the survey determined:

  • 50% of Palestinians “view Hamas decision to carry out the October 7 attack as ‘correct’”

  • A majority of Gazans blame Israel ... first for their suffering and only a small minority blames Hamas first.”

  • 89% believe “Hamas men did not commit the atrocities depicted in videos taken that day.”

  • 64% “... [are] opposed to a Hamas disarmament or the departure of its military leadership from the Gaza Strip.”

Dig deeper into the document and you will discover ...

  • Only 4 out of 10 Palestinians support a two-state solution. This percentage rises to 60% when a Palestinian state is not linked to a two-state solution;

  • 4 out of 10 Palestinians (41%) support an “armed struggle”;

  • When Gazans were asked about their satisfaction with Arab/regional actors, the highest satisfaction rate of 61% went to the Houthis in Yemen. You know, the thugs reigning hell on international shipping in the Red Sea through missiles and drones and threatening freedom of navigation;

  • If new legislative elections were held and there were only two candidates for the presidency of the Palestinian Authority (PA), Mahmoud Abbas of Fatah and Khalid Mishal of Hamas, 68% said they would vote for the Hamas guy – Mishal.

Mahmoud Abbas was a key signatory (Sept. 13, 1993) to the agreed-upon and still valid 1993-5 Oslo Accords. Now 32 years later, exactly what has he ‘done’ to deserve Canada’s recognition; besides get $100 million richer?

So, again, I ask. Exactly what is Canada’s gift of Palestinian statehood “predicated” on ... because the only ‘evidence’ the world has witnessed over the years are the ‘unicorn words’ – the made-up ... imagined ... fantasy commitments Palestinian leaders routinely make ... to ensure that the money flowing in from the United States, Germany, the European Union and France (its biggest donors), among others, continues — so that it can be siphoned off to line pockets, dig up water lines to make more missiles, and build more tunnels to hide terrorists

To be clear - at last count, a two-state solution has been offered seven times over the last 75 years and each time the Palestinians have turned it down! Carney seems to think ‘This time things will be different.” The words of Rita Mae Brown come to mine: "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” Acknowledging a Palestinian State without proven, demonstrable changes is premature and the PM is on a fool’s errand.

Few Palestinians accept Israel’s right to exist independently alongside of them, yet leaders

still peddle two-state nonsense, when it

has zero chance of surviving long term. Zero! 3

Palestinian Self-Rule

The idea of Palestinian self-rule is a myth, because prior to October 7th Gazans were already self-governing. The Israelis were not in control, Hamas was! History reminds us that in 2005 Israel unilaterally disengaged from the Gaza strip – not only dismantling 21 settlements, but even evicting 8,000 Israeli settlers. When Israel disengaged, it was home to 1,324,991 people: 99.4 percent Palestinian and 0.06 percent Jewish. The people of ‘the Strip’ were now free to determine their own destiny – build their own electricity plants, large-scale desalination plants, greenhouses to boost agricultural production, telecommunication towers, upgrade their primitive roads and develop their 25 miles long coastal area for tourism jobs.

On January 25, 2006, the Palestinians freely voted in the jihadist Hamas (44%) to represent them, rather than the more moderate Fatah (PA) party (41%). Since then, the Gazans have supported Hamas, supplied Hamas, worked for Hamas, filled the ranks of Hamas and celebrated its killing. Now with the median age of the Gazan population under 18, half of those governed by Hamas today were not even born when the election took place. All they know is Hamas’ influence ... propaganda ... and violence against Israeli citizens. There is something apocalyptic about Hamas’ primal anti-Jewish madness.

The Jews in Israel are the ‘indigenous people,’ with the

Muslim majority, the colonialists. History matters!

The wars with Israel in 2008, and 2014, simply continued into 2023 (7 October) and the present. Little need for optimism about a civil society in Gaza. The turmoil we are again witness to in the land of Abraham, is the lingering bitter fruits of that 2006 election legacy – when Palestinians, exercising their self-rule, voted in the Islamist Hamas ...which is sworn to Israel’s destruction ... and whose Charter says, “There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad” (Hamas Charter, Article 13). No surprisingly, jihad is what Gazans welcomed into their midst and the ones responsible for Gaza’s collateral damage is Hamas.

Israel’s disengagement in 2005 was a tragic mistake, because the peace process was not linked to democratic reforms within Palestinian society. Our Prime Minister is making the same mistake – by not requiring clear evidence of reforms first.

Here is the obvious: Palestine is not a state. I suppose we could pretend that it is ... or in the case of Canada, release a Government of Canada Fact Sheet trying to spin things that way – but ... it is all just make-believe. To illustrate, does this imaginary ... fictitious ... mythical ‘Palestinian State’ which Canada proposes to ‘recognize’ ...

  • Enjoy a free press? No!

  • Abide by the rule of law? No!

  • Possess independence and not subject to the authority of any other state or group of states? No! An entity cannot be a state, if it is not independent. Wouldn’t independence be the opening gambit? You would think!

  • Does it have independent courts?  No again!

  • Precisely what is Palestine’s “defined territory”? Is it the 1947 Partition Plan, ... the 1967 ... 1972 ... the Oslo Accord boundaries? Does anyone know?

  • Well, surely it enjoys a variety of political parties. Hardly. The ongoing division between the Palestinian Authority (Fatah) and Hamas has made the establishment of a cohesive government impossible. Besides, the Oslo Accords created the Palestinian Authority (PA) as an interim solution, nothing more.

  • Does it have civil rights protections? Let me answer this way: You can be assured there will be no LGBTQ+++ folks openly wondering the streets with rainbow flags.

  • The ‘Montevideo Convention on the Rights and Duties of States’ (December 26, 1933) is a document that helps define the criterial for statehood under international law. (See Article 1). Palestinian leadership meets none of the requirements. None!

Back in October, 2014 Sweden officially recognized Palestine as a state, motivated by the belief that it would contribute to a future where Israel and Palestine could “coexist peacefully.” Nine years late, in October, 2023, Gazan terrorists led an attack on Israeli civilians, slaughtering over 1200 of them ... and now, eleven years later, peace still remains as distant as ever. Canada should learn from this – but it won’t!

Israel is the region’s only democratic country, and there are currently 1.7 million Arab citizens living there with full citizen rights. Try and say that of other Arab states. There are none.

The UN and Palestinians: Arm in Arm

As of March, 2025, 147 of the 193 (76%) United Nations members, recognize the State of Palestine as a sovereign state.  No surprises here however, when you consider that the UN is (a) consistently anti-Israel, (b) made up of some 22 Arab countries, and (c) includes legions of dictators, thugs and crooks, many of whom serve on the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) – as unbelievable as that sounds. Did you know that since 2015 there have been 154 resolutions by the UN against Israel ... and less than half that number (71) for the entire rest of the world? The United Nations has a credibility deficit! 4

The UN even has ‘The Special Committee to Investigate Israeli Practices Affecting the Human Rights of the Palestinian People and Other Arabs of the Occupied Territories’ (UNSCIIP), established in 1968 by General Assembly resolution 2443 (XXIII). 5  No such committee to investigate the many dictatorships brimming in malfeasance. Nope! Just an unhealthy fixation on Israel. In a sea of dictatorships, democratic Israel is always the bad guy! I get it! This is the hypocrisy of the U.N. and why it remains a morally bankrupt institution.

That Palestinians are weaker than Israel does not give them the moral high ground. If Israel was weak, they would have been destroyed a long time ago by these same Palestinians. We forget this.

According to the UN, there are two kinds of refugees:

  • There is one UN agency called UNHCR that takes care of ALL the refugees in the world who have left their homes because of a disaster, persecution etc.

  • Then there is also a separate UN agency within UNHCR however, called UNRWA, who only take care of Palestinians ... making them the UN’s most privileged refugees in the world.

But there is more. Palestinian refugees are given a separate definition of the word “Refugee”.

  • UN Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) definition: “Someone who has been forced to flee his or her country because of persecution, war or violence. A refugee has a well-founded fear of persecution for reasons of race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership or membership in a particular social group.”

  • UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) definition: “All those whose place of residence was Palestine during the period from the 1st of June 1946 to the 15th of May 1948, and who lost both home and means of livelihood as a result of the 1948 conflict.”

A culture of victimhood, so popular these days,

never liberates. It simply perpetuates

the condition of the victim.

This is what is going on in the Middle East.

Did you know that there are a number of ‘privileges’ that Palestinian refugees have that the rest of our world’s refugees combined do not have. Here are a few of them:

(1)   The moment a ‘world’ refugee becomes a citizen of a country they are no longer a refugee. Not so with Palestinians. They can enjoy citizenship somewhere else yet still classified as a refugee. To illustrate, the 2 million Palestinians who immigrated to Jordan from Mandate Palestine back in 1948 and who are today Jordanians ... get aid from the UNRWA, even though they have been Jordanians for some 77 years. The same holds true if they live in Syria, Lebanon, West Bank or Gazan strip.

(2)   A ‘world’ refugee cannot pass on their refugee status to their children. However, a Palestinian refugee can pass their status on to their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, without limit – even if they live somewhere else, have a job, a house etc. Only Palestinians are treated by the UN as perpetual ‘victims’ – called refugees! Talk about international indulgence.

So - in 1948 there were ca. 700,000 Palestinian refugees. As of 2021, BADIL the Resource Center for Palestinian Residency and Refugee Rights, says there are 9.17 million ... and according to the UN, all have the right to return, receive compensation for damages, plus regain their properties (UN Resolution 3236). 6  Imagine – there are 6 million Jews in Israel plus almost 2 million Arab citizens. Add another 9.17 million Arabs to the equation (the largest and oldest refugee population on earth) – and you can see where this is going! The Jewish State of Israel would become a Palestinian Islamic State.  The UN is not seeking peace between these two belligerents, but fueling the Palestinians desire to eliminate the State of Israel.

Some 60% of UNWRA’s money goes into Palestinian education. Here children learn to hate Israel, glorify terrorists, and are shown maps without Israel. Try finding a UNWRA textbook that talks about establishing peace with Israel. Wish you luck!

 (3)   If a ‘world’ refugee commits an act of terrorism or crimes against humanity, they lose their refugee status. Not so with Palestinian ‘refugees.’ They can be terrorists and retain their refugee status. So, when the media reports that an Israeli soldier has killed a UN worker and you are rightfully angry about it – remember that Palestinians maintained their status, even after October 7, when they stormed through Israels security fence and killed 1200+ of its citizens.

(4)   In 1948 some 5 Arab countries started the war against Israel. They lost! Notice that the earlier definition regarding Palestinians refugees has a time window that begins in 1946. Why not go back a generation or two (i.e. 1920) to fully demonstrate they are refugees? Why the short span of just two years (1946-1948)? Requiring not even two years’ residence implicitly acknowledges the fact that many residents had only recently arrived; there is no long history.

Around 1945, tens of thousands of Arabs from Egypt, Syria emigrated and came to work for the British under their Mandate. The reason the year 1946 was chosen was to inflate the numbers of Palestinians ... and consequently allow their children and their children’s-children to be refugees for life! What the UN here seems to forget however is that setting the date in 1946 undermines Palestinian claims to have lived in Palestine since antiquity, claims historical assertions forwarded by the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), the Palestinian Authority (PA), and their surrogates would have the uninformed believe.

Approximately 10% of UNRWA Employees in Gaza are Hamas and Islamic Jihad operatives, with ties to Hamas and Islamic Jihad, reports the Wall Street Journal

(Feb. 2, 2024). The UNRWA does not deny it either! 7

Islamic Theology

In Islamic theology, the concept of taqiyya permits deception, including lying to non-Muslims to protect themselves or their community from oppression or harm. To illustrate:

“The believers should not make the disbelievers their allies rather than other believers — anyone who does such a thing will isolate himself completely from God — except when you need to protect yourself from them (Koran 3.28).

Amusingly, the ‘Messenger of Allah,’ (Mohammed) also allows a man to lie to his wife, to keep her happy! My wife was not impressed!

“Kitman,” (“to hide, conceal”), in Islam, is the deliberate act of concealing or withholding information; lying by omission. To illustrate .... a person could quote one of Muhammad’s earlier, peaceful Meccan surahs, like “There is no compulsion in religion” (Qur’an Surah 2.256) ... while failing to mention that this surah has been over-ridden by a later Medina surah that says, “I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them” (Quran Surah 8.12).

Islam is as peaceful as the devil is truthful! After all, what

compels a person to strap on a bomb, walk into a crowd of innocent civilians and explode it ... or use women/child as human shields? Islamic doctrines of martyrdom and jihad!

It is frequently said by apologists that there is no connection between the evils of jihad or terrorism and the doctrine of Islam; that to believe there is a link, is to be “Islamophobic.” Nonsense! Express a point of view that others do not wish to address or challenge this ‘tyranny of silence’ and there is a good chance you will be labeled a bigot ... a racist ... or the big one: Islamophobic? While there is some debate as to the origins of the term, a common belief is that it was invented by Iranian fundamentalists in the 1970s and its purpose was to declare Islam inviolate to any criticism. Whatever its origins, it is meant to silence, and the word seems intended to be deceptively ‘symmetrical’ with antisemitism so as to gain a moral advantage by being a ‘victim.’ Atheists disagree with Christianity all the time, yet you never hear them called “Christophobic.” Why? Because no reasonable thinking person confuses such criticism as racist — except name-calling activists.

I am prone to think it is the ignorance of some of the rudiments of Islamic theology that explains the inability of politicians like Carney and policymaking elites to appreciate the prevalence and depth of support there is for the annihilation of the Jew. Antisemitism is endemic to Islam (e.g. Qur’an Surah 5.82). There are deep-seated Islamic theological motifs of annihilationist antisemitism within its traditions. So there should be no surprises that the destruction of the State of Israel is an openly avowed policy of Hamas and other Islamists and they are not interested in any compromise that could birth a Two-State solution, as Articles 11, 13 and 15 of their doctrinal Manifesto demonstrate. https://avalon.law.yale.edu/20th_century/hamas.asp

Islamophobia is often defined as a form of racism directed against Muslims. The problem is that

Muslims are not a racial group, for people

of all ethnicities can be Muslin.

The destruction of Israel is a deep-seated theological motif of the Qur’an and Qur’anic exegesis, and a good many of its followers from around the world blindly follow, doing whatever will achieve their goals – including lying to a ‘Kafir’ (“unbeliever”; “all who reject, deny Allah”). Those who killed Jews that October 7th were simply practicing their religion – shouting “Allahu Akbar” (God is great) as they murdered women and children. Does this mean all Muslims are terrorists? To suggest so would be absurd. It should also be noted that “Arab” and “Muslim” are not interchangeable terms, as Westerners seem to think. Here in Canada, for example, most Arabs are not Muslim and most Muslims are not Arabs.8 Furthermore, not all terrorists are brown – though I suspect it does exist in the public’s imagination if you watch Hollywood movies. Yes, white people are terrorists too.

It is not the first time Middle-Eastern despots have played out an age-old scenario — one that envisions themselves as a modern-day Nebuchadnezzar, dominating the Middle-East, destroying the

State of Israel and erasing the Jews.

Fortunately, God has other plans!

Our PM needs to take jihadists at their word ... acknowledge the role that religious belief plays in shaping their world view, including their hatred of Jews ... and demand achieved results before giving any recognition for a Palestinian state. In Islam there can be no ‘self-determination’ among Palestinians, simply because there is no ‘self’ in Islam. Among Muslims the core meaning of ‘Islam’ is “submission to Allah” and all peoples are expected to submit (become Muslim). The Qur’ans intentions against Jews, Christians, infidels and apostates is not imagined – but a natural part of Islamic theology.9 The fact that I have spent the last 20 years taking off my shoes and belt at airport security, suggests this animus is a global problem. But more about that another time.

If only Palestinians would detoxify themselves of their hatred of the Jews. Regrettably, Islamist ideals have subordinated Palestinian identity and made them political pawns to the much wider ambition of making the entire world – the House of Islam.

Perhaps you have heard the recording of an October 7th cell phone call made by a member of Hamas to his family, having just massacred ten Jews with his own hands. The man is ecstatic as he tells them what he has done. Here is a partial transcript:

“Hi dad – Open my WhatsApp now, and you’ll see all those killed. Look how many I killed with my own hands! Your son killed Jews!”

And his dad says “May God protect you.”

“Dad, I’m talking to you from a Jewish woman’s phone. I killed her, and I killed her husband. I killed ten with my own hands! Dad, ten with my own hands! Dad, open WhatsApp and see how many I killed, dad. Open the phone, dad. I’m calling you on WhatsApp. Open the phone, go. Dad, I killed ten. Ten with my own hands. Their blood is on their hands [a reference to the Qur’an]. Put mom on.”

And the father says, “Oh my son. God bless you.”

“I swear ten with my own hands. Mother. I killed ten with my own hands!”

And his father says, “May God bring you home safely.”

“Dad, go back to WhatsApp now. Dad. I want to do a live broadcast.”

And the mother now says, “I wish I was with you.”

“Mom, your son is a hero.”

And then, apparently talking to his comrades he yells, “Kill, kill, kill, kill them.”

I have said it before, in a variety of ways, that there is room for the legitimate criticism of specific Israeli policies and actions during its war with Hamas. But this is not my focus here.

Mr. Carney, and his Liberal party (not our Parliament) intend to unilaterally reward Palestinians with statehood in September, 2025 at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 80).

Carney’s actions will not free Israeli hostages ... end Gaza’s rule by Hamas ... or improve humanitarian efforts for Palestinians. It will merely prolong an obsessive anti-Jewish hostility on the Jewish State of Israel.

The idea of Palestinian statehood is far greater in the West, than in Islamic or Arab eyes. Arab states are in fact manipulating their Palestinian ‘brothers’ for their own ends. This is why in the parts of Palestine that Egypt and Jordan conquered in 1948, neither country permitted Palestinian self-determination.

Prematurely making declarations that are unenforceable is absurd – and enforces the idea that in a sea of nations – democratic Canada is a follower, not a leader! Carneys lack of political principle and his analytical failure in this regard is difficult to miss. I mean, will he un-recognize Palestine when the things promised, do not happen? Meanwhile, clear-thinking Chancellor Friedrich Merz has flatly rejected calls to join with Canada, Britain, France and Australia. Germany “does not consider the conditions for state recognition to be fulfilled in any way at present.” “Canada knows this. We don’t see the requirements met.”

Carney’s position shows that terrorism pays and that he knows little about the history of the Palestinians. Apparently 41% of Canadians agree with the PM (Leger Poll, August 2025), suggesting they know just as little. Carneys “predicated” conditions for Palestinian statehood are very, Very, VERY unlikely to be met ... but why let facts get in the way of politics. Frankly, the whole idea ... is a bad idea. “OnlySaying ...”
